Step 1: Feedstock

– MIM achieves ultra-high density and close tolerances over high-production runs, resulting in 95-100% of theoretical density.

Step 2: Molding
– The feedstock is heated and injected into a mold cavity under high pressure.
– Complex shapes can be produced, and shorter cycle times are possible.

Step 3: Debinding
– Controlled debinding process removes most of the binders.
– The component is referred to as “brown” after debinding.

Step 4: Sintering
– The brown part is fragile and held together by a small amount of binder.
– Sintering eliminates the remaining binder, giving the part its final geometry and strength.
